Dr. C. John Langley, Jr., Ph.D., serves as a Director of Development, Center for Supply Chain Research at
the Smeal College of Business at Penn State University. Dr. Langley serves as Advisor to
ChainConnectors. He served as the Director of Supply Chain Executive Programs in the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering and The Logistics Institute at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is an Influential Authority in the Areas of Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management. He is providing consulting and advisory services to several leading corporations. He co-founded three organizations that have helped to shape the development of the industry: the Center for Logistics Research, the Supply Chain Forum and the Office of Corporate Partnerships. He has been a Director of Forward Air Corp., since April 12, 2004. He has been a Non-executive Director at UTi Worldwide Inc. since December 1, 2003 and Landair Corporation since August 1998. He serves as a Director of Averitt Express, Inc. He served as Member of Advisory Board of True Demand Software, Inc. He served as a Director of Landair Transportation. He served as President of Logistics Management Council from October 1990 to October 1991. He serves as an Executive Director of the Supply Chain Executive Forum. Dr. Langley serves as a Clinical Professor of Supply Chain Management at the Smeal College of Business at Penn State University. He served as a Professor of Supply Chain Management in the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering and The Logistics Institute at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He was a Professor at the University of Tennessee from September 1973 to September 2001. He was the John H. “Red“ Dove Distinguished Professor of Logistics and Transportation. He is a popular Speaker at professional conferences and participates as a Faculty Member at executive logistics programs offered at a number of leading universities. He has co-authored three major industry texts, including Third Party Logistics: Views from the Customers, an annual study conducted to identify key trends and issues relating to the use of outsourced logistics services by customers in North America, Western Europe, Asia Pacific and South Africa. Dr. Langley is published in the Journal of Business Logistics, International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management, International Journal of Logistics Management and Supply Chain Management Review. Highly regarded in both academic and professional pursuits and recognized as one of the world’s leading scholars in his field, he has been involved in supply chain management and business logistics for more than three decades. He was the 1993 recipient of the Council's Distinguished Service Award. He has participated in programs of The Logistics Institute-Asia Pacific, located in Singapore. He received a B.S. degree in Mathematics, an MBA degree in Finance and a Ph.D. degree in Logistics Management, all from the Penn State University.
