At the end of the lunar year, this new epidemic emerged all over China, interrupting countless people's returns. The Spring Festival this year was definitely different from other years, the streets were deserted, and there were no signs of celebration. The Chinese people stood firm and work with determination to overcome the epidemic.

As one of the designated hospitals for the treatment of COVID-19 in Shanghai, the Public Health Center is undoubtedly the forefront of the fight against the epidemic in Shanghai.

Cao Jie is the Vice Director of the Health Management Department and one of the 85 middle-level cadres. Cao is committed to providing citizens with high-quality and efficient health management services. He has been showing his passion and innovative thinking on all tasks he is working on.

On January 21st, the hospital began to deploy the prevention and control work against the epidemic. The staff took the initiative to work extra hours and participate in emergency work.

On January 25th, just after his shift of New Year's Eve at the hospital, Cao received a call. He drove from home to the Public Health Center for more than 80 kilometers and join the other team members.

On February 2nd, Cao was temporarily reassigned to assist the Shanghai COVID-19 Medical Treatment Working Group. Since entering the working group, started the 24-hour shift and has not returned home so far. All of his energy was used in the exhausting task. The job of the working group includes data management and quick decisions for human and material safety.

Every day, Cao works from 8 am, and most of the time, he is busy until 1 or 2 am. He temporarily placed a camp bed in his office on the 7th floor. After finishing his morning shift, he rests briefly on his improvised bed. Despite his lumbar spine problems and the worries of his colleagues, he never complained. A proper bed was offered to him, but he said that the bed should be given to medical staff involved in clinical treatment.

The dark clouds of this epidemic will eventually disappear, and the rainbow will appear as always. These hard times remind us of the responsibility that bears public officers. At the forefront of the fight against the epidemic, Cao is ready as everyone around him, all supporting an indestructible line of defense.
