Recently, the Institute of Economics and Social Development held an orientation for the class of 2024. The event was attended by Professor Bai Xuejie, Vice Dean of the institute, Professor Liu Weilin, also a Vice Dean, along with department heads and several faculty representatives. The orientation was hosted by Associate Researcher Zheng Ying from the Office of International Exchange.
Vice Dean Bai Xuejie first extended congratulations and a warm welcome to the class of 2024 on behalf of the institute. Vice Dean Bai encouraged the students to embrace challenges and not be afraid to question in their research endeavors. She also urged them to actively integrate into campus life, stay engaged with global issues, care for others, and work together to create a warm and harmonious academic environment.
Vice Dean Liu Weilin introduced the Institute of Economics and Social Development, focusing on its academic standing, research achievements, and international exchange efforts. He highlighted the institute’s unique graduate training system, from advanced software and hardware resources to comprehensive support in terms of scholarships for both living and academic pursuits. Vice Dean Liu emphasized that the institute’s faculty and staff are dedicated to creating an optimal environment for the growth of graduate students. He expressed his hope that students would take full advantage of the institute's vast platform, deeply root themselves in fertile academic ground, strive for growth, actively explore, focus on their research, think independently, and achieve success.
Following this, the heads of various departments introduced the development of their respective disciplines and extended their welcome to the new students. Representatives of the 2024 cohort of master's and doctoral students also delivered speeches. The orientation concluded successfully amid enthusiastic applause, after which all faculty and students gathered in front of the auditorium for a group photo.
