Zhang Lili: After our country announced the epidemic, our hospital has already been designated for the treatment of sudden and new infections diseases. Nowadays, there are three hospitals of its kind: the Youan Hospital, the Ditan Hospital and the 5th Medical Center.

Many of these new infectious diseases have been diagnosed and treated here. Some examples of this are the previous SARS, the H5N1, and the H1N1/09. Since those days we have been worked hard to be one of the specialized hospitals in this kind of treatment. So, we are talking about professional knowledge here. Soon after the outbreak, we were ready with preliminary arrangements and basic work in early stages.

Zhang Lili: We received our first patient in January 21 at 2pm. Afterwards, the head nurses and deputy head nurses held a meeting. We wanted to see how prepared we were to fight the epidemic, and we found out that we were ready. In half an hour, 37 nurses signed up, after the news spread, we received more than 100 volunteers. Within three or four days, all the nurses in the hospital were registered as volunteers, even if at that time nobody knew for certain the risk of the epidemic.
