On June 14th, Colin Stirling, Vice-Chancellor of Flinders University, Australia and Sebastian Raneskold, Vice-President and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International) visited our school and have a meeting with President Cao Xuetao at the Campus Services Building.
Cao Xuetao gave a warm welcome to Colin Sterling and his party. He praised the joint education program that the two universities have been holding since 2000 and stated the importance of talent training in China.
The Sino-foreign program also includes teacher training, student exchange, and scientific research cooperation, which led to significant achievements in the construction of the “Double First-Class University Plan” and the internationalization of Nankai University.
As a new step on this longstanding collaboration, both institutions will launch soon the “China-Australia Joint Research Center”. The two institutions will explore research cooperation in the fields of medicine, genetics, biology, and others.
President Cao stated that the inception of this Research Center also coincides with the 100th anniversary of the founding of Nankai. He expressed his hope that the friendly relations between Nankai and Flinders could continue to consolidate.
After the talks, Colin Sterling and his party visited the Nankai University History Exhibition Hall.
