On October 18, the 2018 Global Smart Logistics Summit was held in Beijing. Thousands of attendees from Government departments, industry associations, research institutes, logistics enterprises from all over the world were in the event, which had huge media coverage. Professor Liu Binglian, Dean of our college, Associate Professor Xiao Jianhua and Dr. Jiao Zhilun were invited to attend the conference.

During the summit, Professor Liu, on behalf of Nankai University gave a speech in the unveiling ceremony of the Smart-city Logistics Research Institute. The topic of his speech was “Economic trends and Logistic Industry prospects in China”. It obtained a very good response from the public.

Our Modern Logistics Research Center and JD Logistics have signed a strategic cooperation agreement in September 2018. Both institutions will establish a cooperation and innovation platform for Logistics research, personnel training, and a Big Data laboratory. It will also include research on national logistics, urban logistics planning, infrastructure construction, intelligent logistics development as well as other topics.

The above-mentioned Research Institute was created by Nankai University, JD Logistics, China Merchant Bank, Shanghai Municipal Engineering Design Institute, among others institutions.
