Our four-days summer training camp “Efficiency and Productivity” ended on July 16th . The activities started with an opening ceremony presided by Professor Xuejie Bai, Vice Dean of the College of the Economic and Social Development. Dr. Jia Li, associate professor at Duke University, was invited to give a series of lectures during our training camp.

Prof. Jia Li got his Ph.D. in economics from Princeton University in 2011.  Prof. Li serves on the editorial boards of several academic journals including Econometrica, Journal of Econometrics, Journal of Business and Economic Statistics and Journal of Financial Econometrics. His research focuses on nonparametric and semiparametric estimation and inference of financial risk factors, such as volatility and jumps, based on high-frequency financial data.

Students and teachers from Nankai University and many other universities participated in Prof. Li’s lectures, which the main topic was “Latest progress on Advanced Econometrics”.  The lectures were well received by the participants, who have expressed that their experience was very fruitful.

The summer training camp has shown the importance of Econometrics and has helped to enhance the influence of Nankai University among other universities in China.
