On August 2, 2024, Professor Liu Gang, Director of the Institute of Economic Research at Nankai University, presented an academic report titled "Tianjin Industrial and Technological Innovation" at the Nankai Institute of Economic Development Academic Lecture Hall. The event was presided over by Professor Zhou Mi and attended by faculty and students from regional disciplines.

Professor Liu used data to analyze Tianjin's recent technological innovation efforts, identifying key challenges, such as the insufficient integration of the scientific and technological innovation system with the talent and industrial systems. He also provided comparative analyses with other successful innovation cities, such as Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Suzhou, and offered recommendations for Tianjin to enhance its innovation capabilities.

Our faculty and students engaged in a discussion with Professor Liu Gang on key issues related to accelerating industrial innovation in Tianjin. The lecture played a significant role in enhancing the influence of urban and regional studies, promoting communication and collaboration of resources within the university and across disciplines, and strengthening academic exchange and dialogue.
