On December 29, 2023, Professor Li Bo from Tianjin University delivered a lecture at the "Academic Lecture Hall of Nankai Institute of Economics and Development" on the topic "The Impact of Blockchain on Restricting the Misuse of Green Loans in a Capital-Constrained Supply Chain." The event was hosted by Professor Li Xiang from the Modern Logistics Research Center at Nankai University.
Professor Li Bo first introduced the current state and underlying causes of green credit abuse in China, and explained the role of blockchain in addressing this issue. He then demonstrated, through the establishment of a newsvendor model, that the application of blockchain technology can inhibit the misuse of green credit, although it may also hinder the expansion of manufacturing enterprises. Regarding the implementation of blockchain, the study found that a higher level of carbon regulation, combined with lower blockchain implementation costs, encourages supply chain members to adopt blockchain technology. These findings offer practical management recommendations for policymakers aiming to curb green credit abuse and promote the adoption of blockchain technology.
During the discussion session, participating faculty and students raised questions on topics such as supplier risk, the entities and objectives involved in blockchain implementation, and the model’s setup and calculations. Professor Li Bo provided thorough answers to each question.
The "Nankai Institute of Economics and Development Academic Lecture Hall" has been an academic exchange platform initiated by our institute since 2021. Each session invites experts and scholars for discussions and is open to all faculty and students. Through this series of lectures, we aim to foster communication and collaboration both within and outside the university, broaden the academic horizons of our faculty and students, and enhance our institute's academic influence.
