On December 23, 2023, Nankai University hosted the "Academic Seminar on Digital Economy, Artificial Intelligence, and Modern Industrial System Construction" at the Shengshen Building.

The seminar was jointly organized by the Institute of Economics and Social Development at Nankai University, the Interdisciplinary Science Center for Digital Economy at Nankai University, the School of Economics at Nankai University, and the China New Generation Artificial Intelligence Development Strategy Research Institute. It was hosted by the Institute of Industrial Economics, the Enterprise Research Center, and the Institute of Transportation Economics at Nankai University, along with the Industrial Economic History Professional Committee of the China Industrial Economics Association. The seminar also received academic support from China Industrial Economics, Nankai Economic Studies, and Tianjin Social Sciences.

Over 200 experts and scholars from leading universities and research institutions, including the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Peking University, Nanjing University, Shandong University, Central University of Finance and Economics, University of International Business and Economics, Beijing Jiaotong University, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, Hunan University of Science and Technology, Kiel University in Germany, Woosong University in South Korea, Tianjin University of Finance and Economics, Tianjin University of Commerce, and Tianjin Academy of Social Sciences, participated in this event.

Following the opening ceremony, experts and scholars delivered insightful keynote speeches. The attendees engaged in in-depth discussions on four key themes: industrial upgrading and high-quality development in the era of digital economy and artificial intelligence, green transformation and sustainable development, open innovation and high-level development, and the modernization and coordinated development of industrial systems.
