From December 15 to 17, the Annual Conference of the China Regional Science Association (RSAC’2023) and the seminar on "Regional Economic Layout and Land Spatial System for High-Quality Development" were successfully held at Nankai University. The event was co-organized by the China Regional Science Association and Nankai University and hosted by the Institute of Economics and Social Development at our university.
The conference received strong support from prominent academic journals, including China Industrial Economics, Economic Dynamics, Beijing Social Sciences, Tianjin Social Sciences, Xuehai, and Economic Review. More than 500 experts and scholars from renowned institutions such as Renmin University of China, Peking University, Fudan University, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Wuhan University, Zhejiang University, Sun Yat-sen University, Lanzhou University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Southeast University, and Central University of Finance and Economics attended the event.
The conference featured two keynote reports and ten thematic sub-forums, providing a platform for in-depth discussions on major theoretical and practical issues related to China’s regional economic and social development.
The conference also featured the election of the 8th Board of Directors of the China Regional Science Association. Professor Liu Binglian, Dean of the Institute of Economics and Social Development at Nankai University was elected as the President of the China Regional Science Association. Professor Li Lanbing was appointed as an Executive Director, Professor Jiang Manqi was elected as Vice Chair of the Supervisory Board, and Professor Zhou Mi was appointed as Deputy Secretary-General of the association.
Nankai University’s regional economics discipline is a national leader, recognized as the only "985 Project" National Innovation Base for Regional Economics in the field of philosophy and social sciences, as well as one of the first national key discipline units. The university has consistently prioritized the advancement of discipline construction and the deepening of academic development.
