Recently, Nankai University held a summary and promotion meeting on key initiatives in think tank development. University President Chen Yulu attended the meeting and delivered a speech. During the event, outstanding contributors to think tank development for 2023-2024 were recognized.

Three professors from our institute, Liu Binglian, Zhang Gui, and Liu Weilin, were honored with the Outstanding Contribution Award. Professors Li Lanbing and Zhou Mi received the Excellence Contribution Award.

The meeting also included the appointment ceremony for the second cohort of senior fellows at the Institute for Chinese Modernization Development Studies and the first cohort of senior fellows at the APEC Research Center. Liu Weilin, Vice Dean of our institute, was appointed as a senior fellow in the second cohort of the Institute for Chinese Modernization Development Studies. President Chen Yulu presented the appointment certificates to the honored scholars.

At the meeting, Professor Liu Weilin, Vice Dean of our institute, delivered a speech on behalf of the faculty. He shared insights into the institute’s think tank research efforts, focusing on topics such as the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and U.S.-China economic relations.

In recent years, our institute has actively contributed to Nankai University’s think tank development, aligning closely with national strategic priorities. In 2024 alone, the institute submitted over 50 advisory reports to key departments, of which 11 received directives from central leaders, and more than 20 received feedback from provincial and ministerial leaders.

This recognition highlights the university’s acknowledgment of our faculty’s persistent dedication to policy advisory services and affirms the high regard for the institute’s contributions to think tank development.
