On May 8, Wang Lisheng—former Director of the Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center of the Ministry of Education and former Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges—was invited to our institute to deliver a thematic lecture titled “The Land of Etiquette: Our Responsibilities.” The session was chaired by Dean Liu Binglian and attended by the institute’s administrative team and faculty representatives.
In his lecture, Wang Lisheng offered a detailed explanation of the definition and categories of etiquette, the importance of etiquette in personal cultivation, and cross-cultural differences in etiquette. He emphasized that modern educators should embody a deep sense of national responsibility, perform their duties conscientiously, and practice self-discipline rooted in traditional propriety. Teachers are expected to firmly uphold the “Two Upholds,” fulfill the fundamental mission of moral education, and take on the responsibility of advancing China’s goal of becoming a strong education nation. In addition, teachers should uphold professional ethics, abide by public norms and social conventions, foster students’ civic awareness, and collectively work to enhance etiquette and moral cultivation.
At the end of the lecture, Wang Lisheng acknowledged the notable achievements our institute has made in teaching, research, talent development, and international cooperation in recent years. He expressed his hope that the institute will continue to raise its academic standards and contribute further to the advancement of China’s education system.
This lecture was part of our institute’s ongoing faculty development training series for the semester. With its insightful content and vivid examples, the session provided valuable guidance for enhancing the personal etiquette and service capabilities of our administrative team.
