Gao Peiyong delivered the keynote speech, titled “Strategic Considerations for Promoting High-Standard, High-Quality Development in Xiong’an New Area.”
At the forum, Nankai University released two major research achievements: the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Coordinated Development Nankai Index 2025 and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Big Data Platform. Liu Binglian, Director of the Institute of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Coordinated Development and Dean of the Institute of Economics and Social Development at Nankai University, introduced the findings.
The Nankai Index 2025 was developed by the Institute of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Coordinated Development at Nankai University. In line with the goal of building the region into a pioneer and demonstration zone for Chinese-style modernization, the report constructed a comprehensive index, and nine sub-indices focused on key areas of coordinated development. It evaluates and compares 13 cities across the three regions, offering a quantitative foundation for understanding the status of coordination and providing a scientific basis for future decision-making.
The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Coordinated Development Big Data Platform is built on cutting-edge data visualization and large language model technologies. The platform collects macro and micro data across 74 subcategories in 8 major categories—including economy, environment, and policy—for 13 cities from 2014 to the present. It supports big data analysis of policy and regulatory texts and visualizes intra- and inter-regional flows of investment, patents, and trade. The platform aims to support broader and deeper regional integration by offering scientifically categorized, methodologically advanced, spatially visualized, and continuously updated high-quality data.
The forum also featured thematic presentations by leading scholars. Sun Jiuwen spoke on “New Characteristics and Tasks of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Coordinated Development During the 15th Five-Year Plan”; Tian Xuebin addressed “Gathering Toward the New: The Path of Higher Education Clustering in Xiong’an New Area”; and Professor Li Lanbing of Nankai University discussed “Rethinking the Win-Win Path of Tianjin’s Role in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Integration.”
In the afternoon, a roundtable forum was held at the Institute of Economics and Social Development at Nankai University, where participating scholars conducted in-depth discussions on promoting high-quality coordinated development in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
