To promote the deep integration of regional and industrial economics research with supercomputing technology, Professor Liu Binglian, Dean of our institute, led a delegation including Professor Liu Weilin, Vice Dean, and Professor Zhou Mi, Director of the Center for Urban and Regional Economic Research, to the National Supercomputer Center in Tianjin for a special research visit and exchange.

The study focused on the application of supercomputing technology in large-scale models for the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and in smart city development.
At the National Supercomputer Center in Tianjin, the research team conducted an on-site visit to the new generation of the“Tianhe”supercomputing system, gaining a comprehensive understanding of its overall technical architecture, operating mechanisms, and computing advantages.
Technical staff from the center provided a detailed introduction to typical research support cases of supercomputing in areas such as artificial intelligence, big data processing, spatial economic simulation, and industrial manufacturing, showcasing its vital role in advancing scientific and technological innovation and promoting high-quality development.
ProfessorLiu Binglianengaged in in-depth discussions with experts at the center regarding the institute’s research needs inurban and regional development simulation, industrial policy analysis, and large-scale spatial economic data processing. They also explored potential future cooperation in areas such ascollaborative research projectsanddata resource sharing.

Through this visit, the faculty of our institute gained a more direct understanding of cutting-edge supercomputing technologies and recognized the important role that supercomputing systems play in enhancing research capacity inregional and industrial economics. This has laid a solid foundation for promoting interdisciplinary and innovative research at the institute.
