On January 15, 2026, our college invited Assistant Professor Qiao Liang from the School of Economics of Nankai University to visit the "Nankai CESD Young Scholars Salon" and gave an academic lecture entitled "Introduction to Experimental Economics—Taking the Experimental Research on Congestion Information and Efficiency as an Example". The lecture was presided over by Associate Professor Liu Yuhai of our college, and Professor Zhou Mi, Professor Wang Jiating, Associate Professor Wu Xiaofan, Assistant Professor Wang Ran, and Assistant Professor Li Na were the interactive guests.
First of all, Assistant Professor Qiao Liang shared how to carry out laboratory experiments in economics, covering basic theoretical knowledge such as experimental design principles, experimental design steps, and key decisions in experimental design; then, combined with his paper published in the international top journal *Management Science*, he took the experimental research on congestion information and efficiency as an example (English title: *Congestion Information and Efficiency: An Experiment*), showing how to use experimental economics methods to carry out applied research.
In the exchange session, the teachers had a heated discussion with Teacher Qiao Liang on issues such as the types of economic problems suitable for experimental economics research, the feasibility of experimental economics in public policy evaluation, the development differences of experimental economics at home and abroad, as well as the information value measurement method, the setting of experimental practice rounds, the discussion of influence mechanisms, and the significance of policy implementation in the explained case. Through this lecture, the participating teachers and students have a deeper understanding of how to use experimental economics methods to carry out economic research.
