Professor Ge Yingen of Chang’an University Delivers Lecture at the CESD Academic Forum

Recently, a delegation of four scholars from Chang’an University, including Professor Ge Yingen, Dean of the School of Transportation Engineering and Editor-in-Chief of Transportation Research Part D: Transport and Environment, and Professor Hu Hui, Director of the College of Transportation Systems Organization and Control, visited the College of Economic and Social Development (CESD) at Nankai University. During the visit, Professor Ge was invited to deliver a lecture as part of the CESD Academic Forum series.

The lecture was chaired by Professor Xiao Jianhua, Director of the Modern Logistics Research Center at Nankai University. Professor Liu Binglian, Dean of the College of Economic and Social Development, attended the event. Other participants included Professor Li Xiang, Deputy Director of the Center; Associate Professor Wu Xiaofan; Assistant Professor Li Na; Postdoctoral Researcher Yu Hang; as well as faculty members and students from the Business School of Nankai University, including Associate Professor Xu Ya and Associate Professor Chen Ping.

The lecture, titled “Academic Writing and Journal Submission from the Perspective of the Editor-in-Chief of Transportation Research Part D”, focused on the key stages of the academic publishing process. Drawing on his extensive experience as an editor and reviewer, Professor Ge systematically shared insights into every stage of academic paper development, from topic selection and manuscript preparation to journal submission and publication.

During the discussion session, Professor Ge engaged in in-depth exchanges with faculty members and students on a variety of topics, including:

  • Research topic selection and positioning;

  • Best practices and common pitfalls in journal submission;

  • The application of artificial intelligence in academic writing;

  • The peer-review and editorial decision-making process.

The interactive session generated lively discussions and fostered a strong academic atmosphere.

Following the lecture, faculty members from both institutions held further discussions on a range of strategic topics, including faculty development, disciplinary planning, talent cultivation models, think tank collaboration, and international academic exchange programs. The visit helped strengthen academic ties between the two institutions and provided valuable opportunities for future cooperation in research and education.
